Planning a Small Birthday or Get-Together at a Cafe in Kathmandu

Chiya Table · 9 Oct 2026

Not every celebration needs a banquet hall. Some of the best birthdays, farewells and reunions are small: a group of friends, a few drinks and a lot of laughing.

Here's a simple checklist for planning a small gathering at a cafe in Kathmandu.

1. Decide the size

Count your guests first. A small group (around 5–10 people) is easy almost anywhere; larger groups need more planning so you can sit together.

2. Choose a time

  • Afternoons are relaxed and good for mixed groups.
  • Evenings feel more festive.
  • Weekends and festival days get busy, so plan earlier.

3. Pick the right setting

Look for:

  • Enough space to sit together
  • Comfortable, unhurried seating
  • An easy location for most guests
  • Outdoor seating if the weather is good

4. Agree on drinks and budget

Keep it simple. A round of chiya, some cold drinks and maybe lassi for those who want something special keeps costs predictable. Check prices on our menu.

5. Tell the venue in advance

Even for a small group, a quick message helps the team prepare.
